Just as with Video Poker, you should always play the maximum number of coins. If necessary, simply select a lower denomination to be able to play the maximum number of coins. The reason for this is that the maximum payout is usually higher on the last coin at the slot.

This is especially important on progressive slots -- just imagine hitting max payout and not betting max coins - you would miss the progressive jackpot.

Payout on progressive slotmachines may seem lower than on non-progressive slots. This is simply due to the fact that the slot is setting money aside from each bet to the progressive jackpot. The actual average payout may very well be the same or even higher at the progressive slot, once a lucky player hits that mega-jackpot.
